Marah Johnson

Marah Johnson grew up all over the United States and Canada never really calling one place home. Her parents were true hippies – living the hippie, bohemian lifestyle. Constantly on the move, Marah went to well over a dozen schools before she started 7th grade. To put food on the table, her mother used to make art dolls, quilts, and jewelry and sell everything at craft fairs. Most of the family friends were artisans as well, so whether by osmosis, or by her never ending curiosity, Marah learned to bead, sew, paint, carve wood, tool leather, caste molds, card and spin wool, weave, throw clay, paint silk, paint with beeswax, block printing, screen printing, and embroidery…all before the age of 10. Needless to say, art was, and still is, Marah’s coping skill – her drug of choice.
Marah has been in the industry for the past seven years, teaching both locally and internationally. She has been licensed with Creative Imaginations for six years and is best known for her edgy, grungy, rock influenced artwork and her love of texture. Her work has been published several times by Creating Keepsakes, Memory Makers, Design Originals, Legacy, Scrapbooking and Beyond, Paper Crafting and a few more that she can’t remember…she has so many ideas floating around in her head that her memory skills are lacking a bit.
Marah is still happiest, barefoot, hair pulled in a ponytail, comfy clothes, fingers full of ink and glue with a bit of paint and glitter thrown in for good measure. She is known for getting lost in her projects and having to remember to set an alarm clock so she doesn’t forget to pick up her kids at school and more often than not, forgets to eat lunch.
Marah currently lives in Vista, California, with her three darling daughters ranging in age from 19 to 9. When she is not working she loves to take photos of her girls and cook with her budding chef (her youngest daughter).

I started my Scrapbooking career in 2000 at a little scrapbook store in Mesa, Arizona, Scrabooks Etc. You may have heard of it’s owners, Doug & Marti Jones. I loved working there and teaching my class Card Crazy! While working for Doug & Marti I had the opportunity to be a contributing artist for 2 Bazzill books Bazzill Color and Eclectic!
In 2003 I started working for Deluxe Designs where I taught all over the country, was a contributing artist for the book Card Crazy and designed my first paper line, Margie’s House.
In 2004 our family moved to Utah, where I grew up. I went to work for Making Memories as a product designer and as Style Director. I loved my time there and loved the people I worked with. At Making Memories I was blessed to do what I loved, design fun product and teach. I have taught all over the world, met amazing scrapbooking girls who, just like me, have a passion for scrapbooking, card making and all types of paper crafting! After 5 years at Making Memories it’s time for me to do what I love…Share my passion with others! That is what I hope to do with The Girl’s Loft.

I have been crafting for over 10 years and love every minute of it. Scrapbooking is my passion and something I look forward to everyday. I have been a scrapbooker, a CM consultant, a scrapbook store owner, a teacher, a creative designer for Li’l Davis Designs and a traveler sharing my passion all over the place.
Now I’m a kit club owner. Having four crazy children and a super cute husband that I call my personal saint, being at home with them has always been very important to me. So what better way to share all my fun with everyone and still be “Mommy” at home, than to start Polka Dot Whimsy.

I have been scrapbooking in one way or another for the past 13 years. I am addicted. It is my passion and my sanity keeper. I love creating projects that inspire others to get creative and break out of their comfort zone. Lately I have been playing with digital scraping, something I swore I would never do, and LOVE it. Digital mixed with the traditional scrapbooking, and even some mixed media art is where my style is at the moment.
I currently own Devine Memories in Gilbert, Az. with my best friend and mom Sandy. We started Creativity in Bloom 2 years ago with the hope to bring inspiration and creativity to all of our fabulous friends.

I am an avid scrapbooker and altered art enthusiast. I started my first memory journal when I was twelve years old and living in American Samoa. For the past ten years, I have been teaching, creating, and sharing my talents with friends and family. My favorite projects include cards, funky albums, and altered items. I have a passion for chipboard, buttons, flowers, ribbons and lace. I also like to incorporate non-traditional colors and patterns into my projects. My daughter, Michelle and I are the owners of Devine Memories, a great little scrapbook store in Gilbert, Arizona. I am the mother of four children and fourteen grandchildren. Life is great!
